Sex slur: ‘Jena’ approaches Central Grievance Cell

Bhubaneswar: Even as the demand to remove Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) mayor Ananta Narayan Jena from his post in connection with the sex clip is yet to settle down, a complaint has been filed by one resembling the name of Jena with Centralised Public Grievance Redress and Monitoring System (CPGRMS) to take action against some television channels in the State for violating telecast guidelines.

The complaint, as shown in the website of CPGRMS has been made online by one Ananta Narayan Jena on 6 January.  The status of the complaint shows it is forwarded to ‘Broadcsting Content III’ and is received by Smt. Neeti Sekhar, the Director of Broadcasting, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.

The complaint (Regd no: MOIAB/E/2017/00044) said, “……TV channels from Odisha name and style as Zee Kalinga, Kanaka TV, ETV News Odia, Odisha Television and Prameya News 7 have telecasted defamatory news against me. Having connivance with one Itish Pradhan and Pradip Pandey, the news channels showed my video of having group sex with a woman. The channels have transmitted sexual scenes of mine along with another two persons (one man and another woman)”.

“They also conspired against me to link with a murder case of a youth of our city. The telecasting of sexual scenes and whistling false stories have damaged my reputation, and violated the terms and conditions of licenses granted to them for operating news TV channels. Therefore, I pray to take legal action and cancel their relevant permission for telecasting the news along with exemplary fine”, it further stated.

Though political circles are abuzz that it is Jena who approached the forum for ‘not’ getting any support from the ruling BJD over the matter which has reportedly sidelined him, the first citizen of the city has denied to have made such complaint.

“I have not done this….I suspect it is the handiwork of the people who prepared the video against me to tarnish my image”, Jena told OTV.

Opposition BJP which has been demanding the scalp of Jena in the case stated that the development has confirmed the involvement of Jena in the sex clip.

“Jena has moved the forum to avenge his loss of public image in connection with the sex clip. Why anybody else in the name of the mayor will file a case with the Ministry?” asked BJP’s Sameer Mohanty. He said, to save the image of the ruling party, chief minister Naveen Patnaik is unable to take action against the mayor due to the ensuing panchayat polls.
