Delhi youth alleges kidnap bid at Bhubaneswar airport
Bhubaneswar: Panic spread among visitors as well as passengers at the Biju Patnaik International Airport here today when four miscreants tried to kidnap a New Delhi-based youth who reached Bhubaneswar along with two of his friends late last night.
While the four miscreants attempted to take the youth, identified as Balaram Singh Yadav of New Delhi, along with them forcibly at Terminal-2 of the airport after pulling him from the entry point where the security check is done, Singh sat down and screamed for help. When everyone present at the spot got alerted, the four miscreants left him and fled.
Singh, the complainant, added, “I am working as a cargo staff at the New Delhi airport and had come here after the youths, who tried to kidnap me, requested me to visit Odisha. Besides, they had promised to take me to their aviation academy located in Bhubaneswar.
However, Singh was unable to tell the name of the aviation academy.
“The four miscreants had offered me drinks. As I am from a family of sound financial background, the four youths tried to kidnap me,” he said, adding that the miscreants had been to his house in Delhi.
In the meantime, the two companions of Singh had left the spot when the behaviour of the four miscreants changed, the complainant said.
According to Singh, he was held hostage in Jharpada from where he escaped along with another youth. The miscreants who attempted to kidnap him are the same persons who had detained him since last night, Singh complained.
Local police officials reached the terminal-2 of the airport and quizzed the complainant.
Meanwhile, contradicting Singh’s statements, Nitish Kumar Sinha, who brought the New Delhi youth to the Bhubaneswar airport, refused of having any knowledge about any kidnap and said, “I am a student and had gone to Delhi on a holiday from where I came across Singh. As he had my contact number, Singh called up me today and asked to pick him from Laxmisagar and drop at the airport anyhow.”
Sinha further stated Singh never told him about cash snatching and declined of knowing the four miscreants.
