Launching a fresh attack against the BJD-led government, the saffron party said the untoward incident in the southern Odisha district, which prompted the State government to impose curfew and snap internet services to bring the situation under control, has left a black spot in governance in Odisha.
The probe committee comprising four BJP MPs reached the city to conduct an inquiry. The panel will submit "a factual report" to the party president.
“The state government has drastically failed in both preventing the violence from taking place and taking punitive action against those responsible," said MP Aparajita Sarangi.
In the letter, the SP was also informed that the rally would pass through Muslim-dominated areas like Bhutpada, Motijharan, Raza Nagar, Sunapalli, Kumbharpada, and Daliepada.
Speaking to media, Gangadhar said, “We have, so far, lifted curfew in four police limits. After assessing the situation, we will withdraw the night curfew which is still there in Town and Dhanupalli police limits today.”
The committee will visit Sambalpur and prepare a report based on facts that will be submitted to the BJP President for necessary action.
The senior BJP leader also slammed the BJD over slain gangster Atiq Ahmed’s aide Guddu Muslim’s Odisha visit and his alleged links with a ruling party leader.
Addressing a presser, Bargarh MP Suresh Pujari on Monday alleged that ‘anti-national slogans’ were raised during the recent Sambalpur violence on April 12. This proves the presence of anti-national elements here, said Pujari.
The situation is gradually limping back to normalcy in Sambalpur which witnessed large-scale violence in the run-up to Hanuman Jayanti celebrations. However,

The Bajrang Dal launched a state-wide agitation in front of all the Collectorates in Odisha protesting the alleged attack on its members during Hanuman Jayanti in Sambalpur.
It is now being questioned that if the violence was pre-planned then why the police were not prepared, especially after the Union Home Ministry’s letter alerting every State of possible violence during Hanuman Jayanti.
The districts in which the VHP will observe the bandh are; Sambalpur, Deogarh, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Bolangir, Sonepur, Boudh, Kalahandi, Nuapada, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Malkangiri and Rayagada.
