A 27-year-old girl recently lodged a written complaint with Khordha Model Police station alleging that a youth brainwashed her into converting to Islam with false promise of marriage after a relationship of eight years.

She has also accused her husband of having an illicit relationship with another married woman.

The people of the district have long been demanding for establishing a Central School and a Driving Training School in Koraput.

According to the protestors, poor quality equipment have been bought for the students and there has been massive corruption in the purchase.

Political motives are being imputed to the protest by all and sundry in the establishment. A triumphant sounding Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, the ‘sidelined’ president of Indian Wrestling Federation (IWF) who stands accused of sexual harassment by top female boxers of the country, is leading the charge against the protesting wrestlers and has the temerity to accuse the protesting wrestlers of being backed by ‘one family’, ‘one akhara’ and funded by an industrial house.

"Forget others, we got ditched by our own sister Babita Phogat," alleged one wrestler, who is protesting against Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) president Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh at the Jantar Mantar here.

The protestors took out the unique rally from Master Canteen to Lower PMG by putting black tapes on their mouth.

The Sarpanch of Kankadajodi panchayat and ward members too joined the protest. The agitating people demanded transfer of the junior engineer, Sabita Dhal. 

According to sources, the staff of Parija’s production house, artistes and technicians working in Shanti serial, have accused the film producer of not paying their dues.

According to sources, the outsourcing employees took out a massive rally and went to Lower PMG Square to press for their demands which include job security and salary hike.

The decision to put the strike on hold was announced by the Odisha Driver Mahasangh President, Prashant Menduli.

Yesterday, the Chief Secretary had given us written assurance to resolve our grievances within three months. But not a single member is happy over such assurance. We will continue with our agitation until the Odisha government makes an announcement in this regard.”

The task force includes, Director General of Police, Development Commissioner, Principal Secretary Commerce & Transport, Principal Secretary Food Supplies & Consumer Welfare and the Transport Commissioner.

The announcement came after a meeting between the Chief Secretary and the representatives of the Drivers’ Mahasangh.

As per reports, the drivers turned violent when the police tried to prevent them from stopping trucks entering Odisha from other states.
