As per reports, the drivers turned violent when the police tried to prevent them from stopping trucks entering Odisha from other states.
Around 10,000 auto-rickshaw and car drivers under the aegis of Smart City Online Auto Association launched the agitation in protest against alleged humiliation by agitating bus drivers.
Around 10,000 auto-rickshaw and taxi drivers will remain off road tomorrow to participate in the strike.
After the local Police denied them permission to hold protest in Bhubaneswar on Wednesday, the steering committee of the Federation assembled at the Exhibition Ground in the Smart City and decided to call off the protest.
“Our main demand is regularisation of job with a minimum monthly salary of Rs 26, 000,” she added.
As per the federation, a steering committee meeting will be held and in the meeting, they will decide whether to go for the strike or not.
Following a meeting with DGP Sunil Bansal on Tuesday to discuss the law and order situation during the protest, the Association announced that plying of buses will be normal across Odisha during the strike on Wednesday.
The protest was launched after the Block Chairperson, Samiti members and Sarpanchs were allegedly not invited to the review meeting chaired by the Minister.
