Preparations for the visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Sambalpur are in full swing. Chief Secretary Pradeep Jena chaired a high-level meeting at Lok Seba Bhawan on Thursday on the preparations for the PM’s visit on February 3.

"This budget carries the confidence of continuity. It will empower all pillars of developed India -- the youth, the poor, women, and farmers," PM Modi said.

In his customary remarks to journalists before the Budget Session's start, Modi greeted them with "Ram Ram" (an invocation of Lord Ram) and noted that there is a tradition of not presenting a full budget before the polls.

The AICC president came down heavily on the BJD and the BJP and mockingly accused both parties of being locked in a love marriage to loot Odisha. “The two parties have become allies only to destroy Odisha and will sell off mines. They are locked in love marriage for this reason,” he observed.
