The Centre has sanctioned lakhs of rupees for the development of Odisha in the last 10 years, said BJP National Vice-President Baijayant Panda on Sunday.

Panda, who offered prayers at Maa Samaleswari temple in Sambalpur, said, earlier governments at the Centre always mocked Odisha whenever it went with a request for fund allocation.

"Earlier, Odisha used to get dejected at Delhi darbar for seeking Rs 500 to Rs 600 crore allocations for railways. But things have now changed. Odisha has got over Rs 5000 crore for railways. Apart from this, Centre has been granting lakhs and lakhs of rupees for Odisha under Prime Minister Narendra Modi," said Panda.

Panda further said that there was a time when the previous governments at the Centre used to mock by saying that whether money grows on tree. But under PM Modi government, there will be no dearth of funds for Odisha's development.

"I have come to Sambalpur to seek blessings of Goddess Samalei. It was only due to sacrifice and struggle which continued for 500 years, the Pran Prathishtha ceremony of grand Ram Temple in Ayodhya was possible on January 22, 2024. The devotion gripped entire nation after that and even pujas were organised in temples across Odisha, including Sambalpur," said the BJP National Vice-President.

According to Panda, this is the face of the new India. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had said that it is not his privilege; rather every Indian should consider themselves lucky to witness the grand event.

"Lakhs of people attended PM Narendra Modi's event in Odisha and they were filled in with enthusiasm. There has been massive development in India in 10 years of PM Modi-led government. Everyone believes that there can be similar development in Odisha as well," he added.
