According to reports, three women along with their children had been to Badela village to attend a wedding function. While returning, the country-made boat capsized in the river near the village.

The districts are Koraput, Malkangiri, Sundargarh and Keonjhar. The SPs of these districts have been advised to tighten security on the border and conduct frequent patrolling in those areas.

Governor Raghubar Das is reportedly collecting complaints galore from people while doing rounds of districts in Odisha. He has also started writing letters to Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik about the public grievance

Such an incident stands in sharp contrast with the government’s announcement to deliver pensions at the doorsteps of the elderly and physically challenged beneficiaries. 

Nath, who wore a police uniform, was initially apprehended by a local journalist while the former was allegedly extorting money from the locals in Sourasahi and Telisahi area of the town. The journalist called the police who subsequently arrested Nath.

The Congress MLA was visibly upset and threatened some people not to irritate him. “Don’t try to challenge me."If I want then I can make the scheme a failure,” he shouted.

The matter came to the fore after the parents of the student lodged a complaint at Jeypore Town Police Station against the principal.

Andhra officials had opened a post office in a Biju pucca house at Uparasembi village and tried to include that village in their state.

The IIC was detained near Jeypore on Monday night while he was returning home in Cuttack in a private bus. At that time, cash worth Rs 2.70 lakh was seized from his possession. During subsequent searches at three locations, the remaining amount was recovered.

The police official failed to clarify about the cash. The IIC was detained.  An investigation into the matter has been started.

Many eligible beneficiaries across the State are deprived of getting the benefit of the scheme launched for them.
