A naxal has been killed in an exchange of fire between the ultras and security forces at the Kakerpua area under Baliguda of Kandhamal district. The deceased naxal has been identified as Dasru, a DCM member of the KKBN division.
The STF officials received a tip-off about a deal of Rs 25 lakh for the leopard hide. They laid a trap. They conducted a raid in Sudrukama area and arrested the accused identified as Goutam Behera(55). The accused had reportedly struck a deal to sell the hide to a person for Rs 25 lakh.
The youth was staying at a relative’s house in Rajenai village of Kandhamal district and consumed poison on Monday. He was admitted to the district headquarters hospital at Phulbani where he died while undergoing treatment.
