The committees will look after the party’s efficient electioneering for the Jharsuguda by-election, sources informed.

Pandey was accompanied by OPCC Chief, Sarat Pattanayak, and senior MLAs Suresh Routray and Santosh Singh Saluja.

Congress candidate Tarun Pandey raked up the issue of local candidate in a press conference on Thursday in Jharsuguda. The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) were quick to retaliate.

As per the notification issued by the ECI, the filing of nomination papers by the candidates will begin today (April 13) and the last date for the same is 20 April 2023.

Tankadhar's name was declared by the party's Central Election Committee on Wednesday evening.

Pandey’s name has been approved by the All India Congress Committee (AICC) President Mallikarjun Kharge.

At a time when the murder of Jharsuguda MLA and health minister Naba Das is still a mystery, May 10 has been declared as the date for the bypoll to fill up the vacant seat. 

The bypoll was necessitated after the seat fell vacant following the assassination of Dipali's father & then Health Minister, Naba Das.
