As per IMD, thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Bhadrak, Balasore, Kendrapada, Jajpur, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Dhenkanal, Nuapada, Kalahandi, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri and Cuttack in the next 24 hours.
Meanwhile, IMD has issued yellow warnings for 17 districts that are expected to experience heavy rain and thunderstorm activities today.
IMD on Thursday informed that a low-pressure area has formed over the Southeast Bay of Bengal (BoB) and adjoining north Andaman Sea.
During the period between June 1 and September 20, Dhenkanal, Boudh, Kandhamal, Gajapati and Koraput districts recorded excess rainfall while the rest 25 districts received normal rianfall.

As per IMD, yesterday’s low pressure area over Westcentral and adjoining Northwest Bay of Bengal off north Andhra Pradesh south Odisha coasts now lies as a well-marked low pressure area over the same region.
Several parts of north Odisha, north interior and south coastal experienced moderate rain/thundershower in the past 24 hours.
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy rains over some areas of Tamil Nadu and adjoining Puducherry, as well as some districts adjacent to Western Ghats from Tuesday.
Heavy rainfall has triggered flash floods and disrupted normal life across Himachal Pradesh.
