As predicted by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the capital city of Bhubaneswar on Monday witnessed thunderstorm and hailstone showers in the afternoon. Normal life was affected due to the hailstone showers which lasted for several minutes at various parts of the city including Jayadev Vihar and Archarya Vihar areas today.

The Millennium City of Cuttack also earlier witnessed moderate rainfall in the wee hours on Monday. As per IMD, thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Bhadrak, Balasore, Kendrapada, Jajpur, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Dhenkanal, Nuapada, Kalahandi, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri and Cuttack in the next 24 hours.

“There will be no large change in the maximum temperature (day temperature) during next the 24hrs and gradually rise by 3-4 degree C thereafter at many places over the districts of Odisha,” said IMD.

Yellow Warning: Thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Bhadrak, Balasore, Kendrapada, Jajpur, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Dhenkanal, Nuapada, Kalahandi, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Cuttack.

Day 2 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 21.03.2023 to 0830 hrs IST of 22.03.2023)

Light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at a one or two places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Balasore, Bhadrak, Dhenkanal, Jajapur, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Khurda, Puri, Nayagarh, Kandhamal, Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Koraput.

Day 3 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 22.03.2023 to 0830 hrs IST of 23.03.2023)

Light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of North Coastal Odisha, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati, Kalahandi, Nabarangpur.
