Six ECMO Machines To Be Set-Up In Cuttack Hospital: Odisha DMET Chief

There are just 21 ECMO machines across India. Directorate of Medical Education And Training (DMET) chief, Dr. CBK Mohanty on Monday informed that there are just 21 Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) machines all over India. He informed that the need for ECMO was not felt earlier as it is used in very critical cases only. However, with the rise in demand for ECMO due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Odisha government will set up six ECMO machines in Cuttack SCB hospital, he informed.
