Odisha government is getting ready for a possible third wave of Covid-19 in the state, whether it arrives or not. Odisha Health Services Director Bijay Mohapatra on Monday (July 5) said that the state is prepared.
From today onwards (June 29), Russian vaccine, Sputnik V, will be available to be administered at Care Hospitals in Bhubaneswar. According to sources, as many as 600 doses have been procured by the hospital in the first phase, with the cost of each dose fixed at Rs 1,145. Reportedly on the first day, 20 persons have registered to take the foreign vaccine and later on the number will be increased. The vaccination drive will be carried out between 10 AM and 4 PM with all government guidelines in place.
Private hospitals in Odisha will no more get COVID vaccine supply from the state procured doses. In a letter addressed to all the Collectors and Municipal Corporation Commissioners, the State Health Department instructed all the concerned authorities to cancel the vaccination drive at all the private hospitals from state procured vaccines. Interested private hospitals have to procure doses directly from the manufacturer.
