A day after the Congress announced its first list of candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, the grand old party’s screening committee meeting to finalize candidates for Odisha was convened in New Delhi on Saturday.
With the recent posturing of the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) keeping everyone guessing about a possible alliance, the Congress in the state has been in an upbeat mood.
The list also includes two from Meghalaya, including sitting Shillong MP Vincent Pala, as well as the sole seats in Nagaland and Sikkim, four from Telangana, and one from Tripura.
Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) chief, Sarat Pattanayak on Thursday took a jibe at the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) saying that the ruling party will make an alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) not for the interest of the state but for own benefits.
