A major tragedy was averted as no train was moving on the track when the bus met with the accident. The movement of some trains on the route was affected following the bus accident.

In its preliminary report submitted to the government, the RTO has not hinted at any probable causes for the major crash – which the police are probing - as the air conditioned sleeper coach had a fitness certificate valid till March 2024.

The OSRTC bus reportedly rammed into a stationary truck from the rear end. At least 20 to 25 persons were travelling in the OSRTC bus when the mishap occurred.

Eleven persons among the 12 deceased who lost their lives in the tragic road mishap near Digapahandi in Ganjam district are the family members and relatives of former Berhampur MP Renubala Pradhan.

As per initial reports, the bus hit the road median after the driver lost control of the steering wheel. It is alleged that the driver was under the influence of alcohol.

Upon being informed about the incident, National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) ambulances and Fire Services personnel reached the spot and rescued the injured passengers. The rescue operation was carried out for around half an hour.

Of the 39 injured undergoing treatment at the Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Hospital in Rewa, condition of six are stated to be critical, they added.

As per initial reports, the mishap occurred near Mundasahi under Kotagarh Police limits when the bus named Salunki was heading to Phulbani from Muniguda.

The bus named Nilamadhab lost control and fell into a canal after breaking the bridge railing.

The OSRTC bus was reportedly en-route Bhubaneswar from Malkangiri district when it met with the accident near Srikakulam in Andhra injuring the passengers.

At least 15 people were killed and 40 others injured after a bus carrying them collided with a truck near Suhagi Pahari in Madhya Pradesh's Rewa. As per reports, the bus, with about 100 passengers onboard, was enroute to Uttar Pradesh's Gorakhpur from Hyderabad when it collided with a stationary truck near Suhagi Pahari in Rewa late last night.

At least 11 people were killed and several sustained injured after a Mumbai-bound private bus rammed into a truck and caught fire on Saturday morning.As per reports, the accident took place on the Aurangabad Road near Nashik at around 5 AM.

A speeding roadways bus lost control and rammed into a petrol pump in Bijnor, Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday. Visuals were captured on the CCTV installed at the fuel filling station.The driver reportedly lost control over the wheels following a break failure. Several people have been injured in the mishap, so far no casualties reported.
