Odisha Leader of Opposition (LoP), Jayanarayan Mishra is leading a delegation of the BJP MLAs, who along with the MPs will meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and party president JP Nadda to discuss strategies for the 2024 elections in Odisha.

A day after 5T chairman VK Pandian lashed out at the Opposition leaders for criticising the transformation taking place in the state, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Congress leaders on Monday launched an attack on him. 

Launching an attack on the block administration, Puri Sadar MLA Jayant Sarangi said that there is no transparency in official work and project implementation while the roots of corruption have been spreading from the block office to the villages.

At a time when speculations are rife about Gopalpur MLA Pradeep Panigrahi’s next move, the legislator’s statement on Sunday increased the political heat in Odisha by several notches. 

The legislators of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Odisha along with the party’s state president Manmohan Samal and the MPs are scheduled to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and National President JP Nadda in New Delhi on December 27.

Accusing the Naveen Patnaik-led BJD government of liquor trade corruption to the tune of Rs 50,000 crore, the saffron party demanded a detailed CBI probe into the incident.

The Union Minister claimed that the BJP will garner 45 percent of votes in the 2024 general elections in Odisha. His party had a 22 percent vote share in the 2014 general elections which went up to 38 percent in 2019 with 8 LS seats. 

Demanding a clarification from the Biju Janata Dal (BJD), Odisha BJP chief Manmohan Samal said, “BJD should clarify the ownership of the seized cash. Does it belong to the traders or the BJD’s party fund?”

BJP's national spokesperson, Sambit Patra lashed out at the BJD alleging that large-scale corruption has been going on in all parts of Odisha. 

While addressing the gathering, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said the rising crimes against women have let our heads hang in shame.

With the general elections being less than five months away, the state units of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Congress and the incumbent BJD have started flexing their muscles. 

The seizure of black money amounting to hundreds of crores of a non-Odia Congress MP in Odisha is definitely a matter of concern, said Baijayant Panda.

So far the State Bank of India’s Sambalpur and Bolangir branches have counted over Rs 50 crore of the money seized during I-T raids, informed Sambalpur deputy general manager (DGM) Manmohan Swain informed this on Saturday. 

The BJP leader said his party leaders have covered 11,000 panchayats while the rest 5000 plus panchayats will be covered. All leaders, functionaries, workers, and MPs will go to the villages as part of Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra.
