The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has prepared a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for the disposal of the unidentified bodies of the Bahanaga train accident.
The most common types of childhood cancers are leukaemias, brain cancers, lymphomas, and solid tumours like Neuroblastomas and Wilms tumours.
All 28 bodies have been preserved inside a special deep freezer chamber at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Bhubaneswar.

The Minister said this in a written reply to a question in Lok Sabha on whether the government is planning to rename 20 AIIMS in the country after freedom fighters, regional heroes or their distinct geographical identity including the one in Andhra Pradesh.

Ten days have passed since the deadly mishap at Bahanaga Bazar station in Balasore that claimed 288 lives and injured over 1,000 passengers.
Sabila Mulla, a woman from West Bengal, is presently at AIIMS in Bhubaneswar to claim her son’s body. But to her utter dismay, the authorities are allegedly forcing her to take another body. As of now, the woman is at her wits' end.
Notably, 288 people were killed in the triple train accident involving Bengaluru-Howrah Superfast Express and Shalimar-Chennai Central Coromandel Express, which were carrying over 2,500 passengers, and a goods train laden with iron on Friday evening at Bahanaga Bazar station in Balasore.
A Memorandum of Agreement (MoU) was signed between these six AIIMS and CGHS, Union Health Ministry in the presence of Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan.
