Keonjhar/Bhubaneswar: Ahead of the third phase polls in Odisha, political leaders of BJP, BJD, Congress and their supporters were attacked on Sunday in separate incidents.

OPCC president Niranjan Patnaik and his supporters were allegedly attacked by some miscreants at Bhandaripada Chhak under Ramchandrapur Police limits in Ghasipura constituency of Keonjhar.

Patnaik and more than 10 Congress workers sustained injuries in the attack and were rushed to Anandapur hospital for treatment. Vehicles of OPCC president, party observer and MLA candidate from Sanakhemundi constituency, Ramesh Jena, were ransacked by the miscreants, informed sources.

The OPCC president has alleged involvement of the ruling-BJD in the attack.

"They attacked our party workers with sharp weapons. Later, they fired bullets and pelted stones at our vehicles," said Patnaik. BJD is yet to respond on the allegations levelled by the OPCC president.

Later, a team of Congress led by Shivananda Ray met Chief Electoral Officer(CEO) alleging that State minister Badri Patra and his sons orchestrated the attack.

As per latest sources, Police today arrested eight persons in connection with the attack.

In another incident, miscreants hurled bombs at the vehicle of BJP MLA candidate from Bhubaneswar-Central, Jagannath Pradhan, near BJP party office in Delta colony of Bhubaneswar yesterday.

Though Pradhan had a narrow escape in the attack, the mirrors of his vehicle were damaged completely, said sources. On being informed, Nayapalli Police reached the spot and began probe into the matter.

However, Pradhan has alleged that the attack has been executed as per the direction of Bhubaneswar BJD candidate Ananta Narayan Jena. Due to fear of losing the election, Jena is spearheading such violent incident, said Pradhan.

Any comment from Jena could not be obtained in the matter.

In a letter to Chief Electoral Officer(CEO), BJD demanded a lie detector test and narco-analysis of BJP leader Dharmendra Pradhan and others, alleging them of staging a bombing on the vehicle of Jagannath Pradhan.

In a separate incident, bombs were hurled on the vehicle of former Bhubaneswar Mayor, Ananta Narayan Jena, on Jharpada Cannal road yesterday. Jena and his associates suffered injuries in the attack. Later, all of them were admitted to hospital for treatment.
