Bhubaneswar: After month-long observance of fasting and reflection during Ramadan, Muslims across Odisha on Wednesday came together to celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr with festive spirit and religious harmony.

Clad in their finest attire, Islamic followers thronged various mosques and eidgahs across the State to offer namaz before embarking on the celebrations. The morning prayers were offered between 8.30 am and 9.30 am following which people greeted each other ‘Eid-Mubarak’.

In the millennium city Cuttack, not only followers of Islam community, but also people cutting religious across lines celebrated the occasion with peace and harmony. Thousands of people thronged Eidgah ground near Qadam-E-Rasool to offer prayers. After offering namaz, they were seen exchanging pleasantries and hugs. The district administration and police made special arrangements to ensure hassle free celebrations of the festival in the city.

In Bhubaneswar, huge number of people congregated at various mosques including the Masjid at Unit-IV of the capital city to offer Eid-ul-Fitr prayers.

Festivities of Eid-ul-Fitr were also at its peak in Balasore and Kendrapara where people marked the occasion with fervour and gaiety.

Eidgah ground near RSP, mosque at Sector- 15 in Rourkela and its adjoining areas like Bondamunda, Lathikata, Panposh, Rajgangpur and Biramitrapur, Eid celebrations marked promises of charity, kindness & brotherhood.

Around 10,000 people congregated at eidgah ground in Bhadrak Town and wished each other after offering namaz. Eid-ul-Fitr prayers were also offered at Muniguda in Rayagada district today morning.

On occasion of this worldwide religious event, political bigwigs of the State including Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, BJP national Vice-President Baijayant Panda extended their greetings.
