BJP to gherao all block offices in Odisha from today

Bhubaneswar: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is all set to gherao all the 314 block offices across Odisha today to protest misappropriation of government machinery and prevalence of rampant percentage commissioning (PC) system in the 19-year of BJD rule.

With an aim to corner the BJD government, the BJP will continue its protest till October 30 (excluding Sunday).

The saffron party alleged that the Naveen Patnaik government is misusing the block offices as its own party office and held the ruling-BJD responsible for the Central schemes failing to reach the people of Odisha.

The BJP also alleged that the beneficiaries of various schemes and programmes are being selected under the influence of BJD leaders.

Earlier, the State BJP president Basant Panda had informed that the party would also organise ‘Lok Sampark Padyatra’ at the village-level from November 1 to 30 while ‘Parivartan Yatra’ would be held from December 1 to 30 to create awareness among the people of Odisha about different scams and corruptions during the tenure of BJD government in the State.
