Woman gets life imprisonment for killing mother-in-law

Kendrapara: A local court here has sentenced a 36-year-old woman to life imprisonment after convicting her murdering her mother-in-law.

Kendrapara District and Sessions Judge, Bijoy Ketan Mohanty, while adjudicating the case pronounced life imprisonment verdict yesterday on the basis of circumstantial evidence of the crime.

In fact, Soumya Ranjan, 11-year-old son of convict Madhumita Sahu, was an eyewitness to the murder and he had narrated the sequence of the crime that lead to the conviction of her mother, prosecution counsel Bhimsen Bhuyan said.

The murder was committed by Madhumita on November 12, 2012 in Diyanpur village under the Pattamundai police station jurisdiction after an altercation with her 65-year-old mother-in-law Sashikala Sahu.
