Skulls recovery: One detained in Puri

Puri: Padmalochan Mohapatra, a Gopa-based sorcerer, was detained by the district police in connection with the skulls recovery case, said sources on Monday.

Mohapatra alias Padia Baba accepted that he immersed skulls and some puja items in Kushabhadra river after the death of his guru, sources added.

Meanwhile, Puri SP Ashis Kumar Singh said the recovered human skulls and skeletons have been sent to SCB Medical College and Hospital for forensic medical test (FMT).

The probe is going on to find out other angles and probable involvement of others in the case, the SP added.

Notably, twenty-one human skulls, three buffalo skulls and some bones were recovered from the Kushabhadra river bed under Liakhia bridge on Puri-Konark road on Sunday.
