From Labour Day To Elections Leave; Check Complete List Of Bank Holidays In May 2024
Banks in major cities are closed on May 1st in observance of Labour Day or Maharastra Day. If you are planning to visit bank this month, be prepared for approximately 10 non-working days and plan accordingly. Also the national banks will observe 13 non-working days, including weekends and Sunday offs. It is pertinent to note that bank holiday is determined by Reserve Bank Of India in conjunction with state governments. In addition to that religious holidays are added to the list that may differ based from one state to another. Also, this year’s bank holiday list is also influenced by ongoing Lok Sabha Elections 2024. Apart from Sunday, second and fourth Saturdays, here are some of the bank holidays: On May 7th, banks in Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Goa will remain closed for the third phase of ongoing Lok Sabha Elections. West Bengal’s banks will remain closed on May 8th for Rabindra Jayanti and on May 10th Karnataka’s banks will remain closed for Basava Jayanti. On May 13th, Jammu & Kashmir will vote for their Lok Sabha representatives. Hence Jammu & Kashmir’s bank will be shut on May 13th. Some other holidays listed are Sikkim’s State Day on May 16th, Buddha Purnima on May 23, etc. However, online banking services will continue to operate seamlessly throughout all holidays and weekends.
