Odia BSF jawan commits suicide in Silguri

Bhubaneswar: Jyotiprakash Panda (25), a BSF jawan from Odisha, committed suicide with his own service revolver in Hemtabad camp in Raigunj in Silguri of West Bengal on Sunday.

Panda is a resident of Chandipur village in Jajpur district and was a member of BSF’s 167 number Battalion.

According to a report in the local media, Panda shot himself on his neck with his service revolver after his duty on Sunday and died on the spot.

The reason behind Panda’s suicide is yet to be known.

Meanwhile, his family members said that they got a phone call saying their son was hurt in firing.
