Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister and BJD supremo Naveen Patnaik on Sunday advised his party men to use social media as a key medium to strengthen public relations.
Gracing the workshop of the BJD at Pantha Nivas in the city here, Patnaik told his party MLAs and MPs to become media savvy and use social media like facebook, WhatsApp, Twitter and Instagram to keep themselves in constant touch with the workers and supporters of the party as well as the people.
“I am glad that we had this party workshop today to acclimatize the MLAs and MPs about social media network which will improve a lot of matters in their respective constituencies,” the chief minister told media persons after attending the workshop.
Talking about the workshop, Energy minister Pranab Prakash Das said the chief minister, while insisting the MLAs and MPs on the use of social media, said it is the only medium through which they can reach out to the people, know their grievances and take note of their suggestions. “This will help them to take up these issues with the chief minister, the chief minister’s office and the concerned ministers and officers and discuss with them about the best possible governance through the social media,” he added.
Labour and Employees’ State Insurance minister Prafulla Mallick said the workshop had a thorough discussion on the issues of construction workers and the assistance given to them by the Odisha Building and Other Construction Workers' Welfare Board.
He said out of a total of 25 lakh construction workers in the state, about 13 lakh have been registered so far.
“Efforts are on to register the remaining construction workers by 2019,” he added.
The minister also informed that the MLAs were asked to pursue the construction workers to get themselves registered to avail the benefits.
