Puri: After remaining out of bounds for almost two years, the doors of Jagamohan in Puri Jagannath Temple is all set to reopen tomorrow for general darshan by devotees.
Jagamohan - the hall facing Sanctum Sanctorum, also called 'Prayer Hall' of the temple had remained closed since the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) took up its repair works on January 27, 2016.
Members of the temple administration today informed that the general darshan tomorrow will be allowed after the Sakala Dhupa. However, devotees will be prohibited from entering the Jagamohan during rituals.
Similarly, on general days, public darshan will be allowed between Mangal Alati and Gopal Ballav. Devotees will have to enter the Jagamohan through 'Jaya Vijaya Dwara' and exit through 'Beharana Dwar'.
It may be noted that none other than servitors who have rituals to perform inside ‘Garbha Gruha’ will be allowed to enter beyond the ‘Bhitara Katha.’ Earlier when the Jagamohan was under repairs, devotees were allowed till 'Bahara Katha'.
Earlier this year, on March 6, the ASI informed the Orissa High Court that it had completed the repair works of Jagamohan. However, the temple administration said it would only allow public into the prayer hall after the former files a No-Objection Certificate (NOC) on completion of its repair works.
Even though the temple administration had sought Court's permission to keep the Jagamohan closed till August 1, the latter rejected the plea.
A bench headed by Chief Justice Vineet Saran had ordered the temple administration to open the Jagamohan on April 16.
