Bhubaneswar: The youth and students' wing of Odisha Congress on Saturday took out a bike rally in the city demanding the arrest of Biju Chatra Janata Dal (BCJD) state president and MLA Byomkesh Ray for his alleged links with arrested criminal siblings Sushil and Sushant Dhalasamant.

The members of the party also attempted to gherao the Commissionerate Police office here but they were prevented from doing so by the police.

Later, they submitted a memorandum to the Additional Police Commissioner demanding the arrest of the BJD legislator.

“Nearly a thousand members of youth and student wing of Odisha Congress today gheraoed the Commissionerate Police office as the police has failed to take any action against the BJD MLA even though we had filed a memorandum in this regard 15 days ago,” said Manoj Biswal, leader of youth wing of the party.

“An investigation should be conducted about the Scorpio SUV bearing registration number OR 05-F-0001 which is being used by Ray,” Biswal added.

Kiran Sahoo, Congress student leader said, “The BJD MLA should be brought under the purview of investigation. If police fails to arrest Ray, the situation will worsen and police will be responsible for the consequences.”
