Cuttack and Bhubaneswar Commissionerate Police on Tuesday arrested a person on charges of duping people by promising attractive returns on deposits. 

The accused has been identified as Rajesh Nayak. He along with his brother Rakesh Nayak duped a woman of around Rs 33 lakh and another man of Rs 81 lakh by promising an interest of 20 percent per month. 

On the basis of the complaints lodged, police arrested Rajesh and launched a probe to find out if there were some other victims. A manhunt has also been launched to nab the absconding accused.

“I made acquaintance with Rajesh Kumar Nayak at an organisation. He had given me a proposal to invest in construction and travel agency. After knowing him for two years, I went ahead. I paid him around Rs 12 lakhs through online and around Rs 22 lakhs.  When I asked for my money, he would keep changing dates,” said the victim woman. 

“When I was thinking about investment, he met me. I fell victim to his attractive offers,” said the other victim.
