  • Vastu Shastra says the portico should be built in the northwest or northeast direction. Make sure, it should not come in contact with the boundary wall at any point.

  • In east-facing houses, a portico can be constructed in the northeast or east direction. By doing this the house owner will gain wealth and fame. Also, this will lead to good health.

  • In north-facing houses, the portico should be in the northeast or north direction. By doing this, the health of the proprietor will be fine and the business will grow like anything.

  • In south-facing houses, the portico should be placed towards the east or the southeast direction. In west-facing houses, the portico must be towards the north of the northwest direction.

  • The ceiling of the portico must be always lower than the interior ceiling. The roof of the portico must be over separate pillars.

  • Going by Vastu, if you ever happen to park your car under the portico, it is preferable to do so in the north or east of the north for plots that face the north or east direction.
