Gay couple reunites, exchanges rings; thanks to Kerala High Court

A gay couple, separated by their parents, had a happy reunion recently and exchanged rings following the intervention of the Kerala High Court. Adhila Nasarin and Fathima Noora are a happy couple now.

Beautiful pictures of their seaside function are now going viral. The beautiful couple shared the pictures on their Instagram handles. The caption read, “Achievement unlocked: Together Forever”.

In the pictures, the couple can be seen beautifully dressed in wedding attire, with traditional jewellery. They also exchanged garlands.

Adhila Nasarin shared the pictures and her caption read, "I follow the rules I make."

After being shared on Instagram, many people are flooding their comments section with congratulatory messages.

Earlier, speaking to BBC, Nasarin had said, “We just tried the photoshoot because we thought the idea was interesting.”
She further added that they were not married yet, but only have exchanged rings. But at some point, they'd like to be married and be with each other forever.

According to reports, the couple met in Saudi Arabia while they were studying there. They fell in love and decided to stay together. However, their families objected to their relationship and they had to face a tough test.

Later, Nasarin reached Kerala’s Kozhikode and met Noora. They lived in a shelter home for some days, but the police intervened after being tracked by their relatives. Later, Noora’s parents took her away by force while Nasarin was taken to Aluva by her relatives.

Based on a petition filed by Nasarin, the Kerala High Court ruled in their favour.

Notably, in its landmark judgement, the Supreme Court had struck down the colonial-era law and decriminalised consensual same-sex relationships in 2018.
