If you are one among the 3 billion people who use Chrome worldwide, then you should know that your data, privacy, and online activity are at risk.

This may sound alarming, but the truth is that different websites have access to your webcam and microphone, some are allowed to redirect you to any site they want, and others keep sending pop-ups.

Fortunately, there are some hidden Chrome settings that you can turn off immediately to protect your privacy.

Shut off webcam and mic access:

To turn off access to your webcam and microphone, follow these steps:

  1. Click on the three dots in the top right corner of your Chrome browser.
  2. Click on "Settings".
  3. Scroll down to "Privacy and Security".
  4. Click on "Site Settings".
  5. Disable permissions for webcam and microphone.

This will ensure that websites cannot use your webcam or microphone without your permission.

Stop website redirection:

Sometimes, websites may redirect you to other sites without your consent. To stop this from happening, follow these steps:

  1. Click on "Settings".
  2. Scroll down to "Privacy and Security".
  3. Click on "Site Settings".
  4. Click on "Pop-ups and Redirects".
  5. Choose "Don't Allow".

This will prevent websites from redirecting you to other sites without your permission.

Turn off background apps:

Background apps are applications that run in the background even when you are not using them. This can slow down your computer and also pose a privacy risk. To turn off background apps, follow these steps:

  1. Click on "Settings".
  2. Scroll down to "Systems".
  3. Turn off "Continue Running Background Apps".

This will ensure that background apps do not continue running when you are not using them.
