Emergency SOS is a feature on smartphones that's crucial for quickly getting help during medical emergencies, accidents, safety threats, or natural disasters.

It allows users to alert authorities or emergency contacts promptly.

Recently, Apple introduced its latest iOS 18 update at the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) for iPhone users.

This update includes Emergency SOS Live Video Support, which enables users to stream live video or send recorded media to emergency personnel when the SOS feature is activated.

This helps emergency dispatchers assess the situation faster and more effectively. The videos are securely transmitted to ensure privacy.

Additionally, iOS 18 introduces Messages via satellite, allowing iPhone users to send and receive iMessages and SMS texts, complete with emojis, even without a cellular or Wi-Fi connection.

Another new feature is the ability to turn off the iPhone without using physical buttons.

Users can now swipe down to access the Control Centre, tap the new power button, and use the slider to power off their device. This feature is currently available in the iOS 18 Developer Beta 1 update.
