Gautam Gambhir was one of the greatest players from the Indian cricket team, who played a crucial role in winning two ICC trophies for Men in Blue in 2007 and 2011.

Apart from his brilliant batting and leadership skills, the Delhi-born cricketer was also known for showing his aggression and passion during matches against different teams. The incidents made him on the list of top players who used to fight and sledge on the cricket field. The stylish southpaw was especially more aggressive while the Men in Blue took on arch-rivals Pakistan.

In an earlier interaction, Gambhir’s then-teammate all-rounder Irfan Pathan had claimed in jest that they (India teammates) used to leave Gautam Gambhir freely when the Men in Blue would lock horns with Pakistan in high-voltage encounters.

Let’s have a look at some of Gambhir’s infamous encounters with Pakistan players during international matches…

Gambhir vs Shahid Afridi in Kanpur (2007)

Uttar Pradesh Green Park’s Stadium witnessed an epic clash against Indian opener Gautam Gambhir and Pakistan all-rounder Shahid Afridi. It happened when Gambhir was trying to take a quick single on Afridi’s bowling and collided against each other. Subsequently, the crowd witnessed a lot of verbal spats between the two legendary cricketers.

Gambhir vs Kamran Akmal in Dambulla (2010)

Gautam Gambhir and the Pakistan team have a great connection with each other. After the last fight against Shahid Afridi in Green Park, Gambhir was seen arguing with Pakistan’s former wicket-keeper batsman Kamran Akmal during the Asia Cup, in 2010. When Akmal continuously appealed behind the wicket to make Gambhir out, the left-hander did not look pleased. He was spotted in an ugly verbal spat with the Pakistan wicketkeeper.
