During the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, former India batsman Suresh Raina had mocked former Pakistan all-rounder Shahid Afridi for his retirement u-turns during his active days. While responding to a question on his wish to come out of retirement to play again, the former southpaw had given this answer.

The former India batter had said that he was Suresh Raina and not Shahid Afridi. Following Raina’s statement, Pakistani fans slammed him over various social media platforms.

Even one of the journalists in Pakistan tagged Raina to inform him about Afridi becoming the ICC Brand Ambassador for the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. However, he was given a befitting reply by the former CSK batter.

“I am not an ICC ambassador, but I have the 2011 World Cup at my home. Remember the game at Mohali? I hope it brings some unfortunate memories for you,” Raina wrote in response.

However, Afridi called Raina after reading his statement, and subsequently the tweet was deleted by the former CSK player. Afraid talked about his bond with the Indian cricketer, calling him his younger brother.

“I have shared many cricket moments with Suresh Raina. He is a good person. The lighthearted banter happens. After seeing the post on social media, I spoke with Raina and he understood the situation like a younger brother. He agreed to delete the tweet. It is all good. Great individuals rectify their mistakes,” said Afridi.
