Ricky Ponting pelted with grapes by England fans
After an action-packed Day One of the ongoing fifth Test match of the Ashes Series, former Australia captain Ricky Ponting, who is part of the commentary team, was targetted by some unruly England fans at The Oval on Thursday.
When Ponting was analysing the day’s proceedings for a television channel, some England fans pelted him with grapes during the live coverage. The incident left the legendary batter disappointed.
The host of the post-match show tried to laugh off the incident However, Ponting said he wouldn’t mind finding the culprits who pelted him with grapes.
“I have just been hit by a grape. I wouldn’t mind finding out who that was actually,” said Ponting.

Is this within the spirit of the game?

Notably, Harry Brook led the charge for England on Day One of the fifth and final Ashes Test. However, he fell short of a maiden Test century as Australia took control of the proceedings. Brook’s quickfire 85 took England to 283 in their first innings.
In reply, Australia were 61/1 at stumps on Day One.
Australia, as the holders, have already retained the ongoing Ashes Series at 2-1 up.
