Kuldeep Yadav
Left arm wrist spinner Kuldeep Yadav exhibited top class spin bowling to help India register a comprehensive five-wicket victory over hosts West Indies in the first ODI in Bridgetown on Thursday.
Kuldeep returned with an impressive figure of four for six. Despite of boasting an impressive record in all three formats of the game, the 28-year-old left-arm chinaman bowler has been in and out of the team.
He has been sidelined for a significant number of matches since making his international debut due to India’s abundance of spin resources. However, Kuldeep remains unfazed by such fluctuations. He focuses on the aspects of the game that he can control.
“You often have to sit outside because of the situation or the combination. It’s a normal thing. I have been playing cricket for such a long time and a lot of things have become normal,” said Kuldeep.
“I pay more attention to the work I need to put in and my bowling whenever I get a chance. I am very relaxed when I don’t play because there is no pressure of performing on the ground. When you play there is pressure. But at the same time, it’s the pressure of doing well. You are playing for a big team, you are playing for India, you have so many people watching you, following you, so you want to perform at your best,” he added.
