Koraput’s tribal girl Namita Meleka is once again in news. This time she has been offered an enviable opportunity to enthrall audience with her mystic voice at the inaugural ceremony of Hockey World Cup at Barabati Stadium in Cuttack on January 11.

The offer came to her from none other than famous Bollywood music director Preetam. She has recently returned from Mumbai after recording her song.

Namita says she is happy for what has been going on with her these days.

“I heard that because of Dillip Tirkey sir, I got the offer. But I don’t know much about this. Initially, I was nervous because for the first time I was singing in such a big town and before some big names. However, later I gained my confidence and gave my best,” said Namita.

Namita is a resident of Chintaguda village in Koraput district. Her talent was first noticed after a video showing her singing a song from the film ABCD 2 went viral.

Notably, Namita’s first-ever recorded song was a devotional song penned by lyricist Bijay Malla and directed by popular music director Prem Anand. It was possible due to actress Varsha Priyadarshini as she had promised Namita to help her in realising her dream.
