Promising stars Ruturaj Gaikwad and Shubman Gill are leading two franchises for the first time in the Indian Premier League (IPL).  While Gaikwad has been given the leadership of Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Gill has been appointed as the skipper of the Gujarat Titans (GT).

Though Gaikwad has had mixed results as a captain,  Gill has been ordinary so far. The defending champions CSK are still in contention for the playoffs. However, Titans’ chances are almost over after losing to Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB).

Meanwhile, former India explosive opener Virender Sehwag was not satisfied with Gill’s captaincy. Sehwag called him an ordinary skipper.

Titans’ chances are almost over after losing to Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in their last match.

"Ordinary captaincy by Shubman Gill. He was not proactive and allowed the game to drift away. He should have brought on Noor Ahmad and Rashid Khan in the powerplay overs, but he didn’t do that, and Virat and Faf accumulated 92 runs, which ended the chances of GT," said Sehwag.

"Gill was poor as a captain and it was his mistake that cost GT the match against RCB. You need to be one step ahead of the opponents but Shubman was not," he added.
