Odisha govt issues instructions to Collectors to organise anchor events under Angikaar-2025 campaign

Padhee highlighted that the objective of the Angikaar–2025 campaign is to fast-track completion of under-progress houses under PMAY-U, facilitate housing loans through banks for beneficiaries, create awareness about the Interest Subsidy Scheme (ISS), and converge other Government schemes such as PM Surya Ghar, PM SVANidhi, Ayushman Bharat, etc.

The Housing & Urban Development Department, Government of Odisha, has initiated steps to implement the Angikaar–2025 campaign under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana - Urban (PMAY-U 2.0), being observed across the country till October 31, 2025.

In this connection, Principal Secretary of the H&UD Department- Usha Padhee, has written to all Collectors to organise district-level anchor events and ward-level outreach activities to ensure the success of the campaign.

As part of the programme, PMAY-U Awas Diwas will be celebrated on 17th September 2025. On this occasion, PM Awas Mela – Shehri (Phase–I) will be organised at the district level to mark one year of the launch of PMAY-U 2.0. Between 17th September and 16th October 2025, multiple ward-level camps will be conducted in all ULBs to facilitate awareness and enrolment of beneficiaries. A second anchor event – PM Awas Mela – Shehri (Phase–II)  will be held at the district level on a suitable date between 16th and 31st October 2025.

In her letter, Padhee highlighted that the objective of the Angikaar–2025 campaign is to fast-track completion of under-progress houses under PMAY-U, facilitate housing loans through banks for beneficiaries, create awareness about the Interest Subsidy Scheme (ISS), and converge other Government schemes such as PM Surya Ghar, PM SVANidhi, Ayushman Bharat, etc. Collectors have been advised to constitute District Level Coordination Committees to oversee the campaign. They have also been asked to explore the dovetailing of IEC funds from other related schemes.

Further, the H&UD Department has emphasised convergence of Angikaar–2025 with ongoing campaigns like Sahajog (saturation approach to Government schemes at the doorstep of the urban poor) and PM SVANidhi (welfare & micro-financing support to street vendors) for optimum impact, according to Subhananda Mohapatra, Mission Director OUHM.
