On the basis of his prolific form and brilliant shows in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL), veteran India batsman Ajinkya Rahane has made a comeback to the Indian squad for the upcoming World Test Championship Final against formidable Australia at The Oval starting from June 7.

The 34-year-old right-handed batsman was dropped from the Test squad at the end of the 2021-22 tour of South Africa due to his poor form. However, his recent exploits with the bat in the 2023 edition of the cash rich league has given his career a new lease of life.

Fans could not keep calm for the Test comeback of Rahane 2.0. They flooded various social media platforms with interesting comments.

Reacting to Rahane’s unexpected Test comeback, a fan wrote, “Other IPL batsmen get orange cap for their performance. Rahane got blue cap.”

Another fan vented his anger on the selectors for giving importance to IPL rather than domestic performances.

“Other players aren’t getting selected in Test by playing good innings in domestic cricket,” he tweeted.

Heaping praise on Rahane, a third user commented, “Do u know? Rahane is my second favourite cricketer after Rohit Sharma.”

Notably, Rahane has the experience of playing 82 Tests for India. He is likely to replace middle-order batters like Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul and Suryakumar Yadav.
