Sambalpur MLA demands immediate construction of long-pending mini hockey stadium at Sambalpur University

Sambalpur MLA Jaynarayan Mishra raised a question to the Higher Education Minister Suryabanshi Suraj regarding the long-pending mini hockey stadium project during the 35th Convocation Ceremony of Sambalpur University on Saturday.

Mishra asked in a pointed manner as to where has the mini hockey stadium has gone missing? Referring to the government’s earlier promises to construct the mini hockey stadium, he expressed concern over the delay and asked why the project has not materialized so far. Mishra further emphasised that the stadium should be completed at the earliest.

"The government had earlier promised to build a mini hockey stadium. I don't know in which cold storage the plan has been kept. It should be built at the earliest as Sambalpur University is emerging champion in the all India level. It was earlier announced by the government, and it should be built. Other works of the university stadium should also be done," said Mishra.

Responding to the query, Minister Suryabanshi stated that efforts are ongoing for the development of infrastructure.

"Sambalpur University has been included in the Multi Education Research University Programme. The State government has provided administrative approval of the estimated expenditure of Rs 57 crore. There is no doubt that this educational institution will become an educational institution of excellence with infrastructural development, good academic environment, quality education and hundred per cent implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP)," said Higher Education Minister Suryabanshi Suraj.
