Sambalpur MLA Jaynarayan Mishra accused of abusing police officer

A purported picture of an FIR filed against Jaynarayan Mishra, the Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) from Sambalpur, at the Town Police Station has reportedly gone viral over various social media platforms.

It has been alleged in the FIR that Mishra used abusive language and issued threats to a police officer over the phone.

Allegations of Threat and Abuse

According to the FIR lodged by the officer-in-charge, Subrat Kumar Meher, Mishra allegedly contacted him on the morning of April 3 while discussions were on about the preparations for Hanuman Jayanti celebrations in the town.

Meher claims that during the call, Mishra not only used inappropriate language but also questioned the confiscation of swords from the previous night and issued threats.

Sword Confiscation Debate

The controversy reportedly follows an incident on the evening of  April 2, during which a flag march in the city led to the police confiscating two swords. Subsequently, a case was registered. It is in this context that Mishra's alleged phone call took place, as detailed in the viral FIR.

No Official Comments Yet

Despite the widespread circulation of the FIR report, both the police and MLA Jaynarayan Mishra have abstained from public comment. 

Mishra has stated that he is unaware of the FIR details, mentioning that he has not received any official notification from the police about the proceedings.
