Young and talented players are facing fierce competition to get their berths in Team India. Promising and emerging players like Ishan Kishan, Sanju Samson and Umran Malik are only getting opportunities when some senior player is getting injured or rest.

With the ODI World Cup only a year away, former Australian fast bowler Brett Lee has urged wicket-keeper batsman Ishan to cement his place in the Indian team. As per the former fearsome fast bowler, that is the only way Ishan will be a sure-shot opener for Team India in the mega event.

Recently, Ishan broke multiple records after playing a blistering knock of 210 runs off 131 balls with the help of 24 fours and 10 sixes against hosts Bangladesh with a strike rate of 160.31.

“With this deadly double ton, Ishan has staked a strong claim to open for India in the ODI World Cup at home in 2023. Will this happen? I don’t know. Should it happen? Hell yeah it should. The guy just scored the fastest 200 in ODI history. But if he can show consistency, stay fit, and be around the next few months, he should be a sure-shot opener for India at the World Cup,” Lee said on his YouTube channel.

“My advice to Ishan Kishan would be... forget about the milestone and the double hundred as soon as you can. There are bigger milestones to achieve, higher peaks to scale. Ishan has to forget about the euphoria of his double ton. Just focus on the process, stay fit and keep smashing big runs,” Lee added.
