Checking and blocking of vehicles will be carried out in the twin cities of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar till June 4, the day of vote counting, while three-tier security and CCTV surveillance are in place for the EVMs in the strong room in Bhubaneswar. This was informed by Commissioner of Police Sanjeeb Panda on Sunday.

Speaking to the media, the Commissioner of Police said that vehicles will be checked at check posts inside the cities.

As for the election, Panda said, ” The EVMs from all the five Assembly constituencies under the Bhubaneswar parliamentary seat have been stored safely in the strong room at the BJB Autonomous College. The strong room has been sealed. We have made three-tier security arrangements around the strong room. A platoon of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) is guarding the strong room while another platoon of Odisha State Armed Police forces has been mobilized just outside the building. Besides, four platoons of Commissionerate police have been deployed in the periphery.”

He also added that the total area has been under CCTV surveillance while a control room has been functioning for it.

“Besides, CCTV feed of the strong room is provided to representatives of various political parties outside the college. This will go on till June 4,” he said.

“In view of possible violence post-elections at some places, elaborate security has been put in place,” he added.

Panda also stated that polling in Bhubaneswar was conducted smoothly and peacefully.
