The Mahila Morcha of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday took out a huge rally at lower PMG square in Bhubaneswar over women’s safety in Odisha.

From Pari murder case in Nayagarh to Pihu missing case in Jajpur and Mamita Meher case, the BJP raked up all issues pertaining to the safety and security of women in the state and burnt down the effigy of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.

BJP leader, Lekhashree Samantsinghar said, “The statement the State government has made in the Assembly corroborates our allegations. More than 7,500 women have gone missing in 2021-22. Four women are raped and six are kidnapped in Odisha every day. From acid attack to cyber crime, women in Odisha have always been at the receiving end.”

It is pertinent to mention here that with Padampur bypoll just two days to go, the campaigning in the Assembly constituency will come to an end on Friday evening. As the last day, both the BJP and BJD have put in all their efforts and are seen firing from all cylinders to ensure they get maximum votes in their favour.

Meanwhile, the BJP slammed Odisha government over premature end of winter session of State Assembly.

Opposition Chief Whip Mohan Majhi said, “The BJD government has betrayed the people of Odisha. We strongly condemn the move to adjourn the session in 8 working days. BJD govt has failed to face questions of the Opposition.”
