Odisha BJP state president Manmohan Samal reached Delhi on Wednesday on a three-day tour, where he is scheduled to meet several central leaders.

This visit has gained attention as it coincides with Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi’s own Delhi trip, sparking curiosity in political circles. According to party sources, discussions may cover state committee restructuring as well as long-pending appointments to boards and corporations.

Speculation Over Boards And Corporations

Samal’s trip has once again fuelled speculation over the appointment of chairpersons to various state-run boards and corporations, which have remained vacant for months.

Earlier, during his visit on August 18, party insiders had indicated that such consultations in Delhi could prove decisive in settling names for these positions. BJP’s Odisha in-charge Sunil Bansal, who recently toured the state and held internal discussions, is also believed to have submitted his feedback to the central leadership.

Link To Organisational Restructuring

Notably, this is not the first time Samal’s movements to Delhi have drawn political attention. In July, his discussions with senior leaders had triggered talk of a possible Cabinet expansion and filling of six vacant ministerial berths in Odisha.

While no announcements followed then, insiders suggest that the present round of meetings could carry greater weight, given the increasing pressure to finalise both the state committee and corporation appointments.

Samal had earlier clarified that the new state team would be announced only after the election of the BJP’s national president, in line with the party’s constitutional practice.

During his current visit, Samal is expected to hold meetings not only with central leaders but also with Odisha MPs. With the state BJP awaiting clear direction from the centre, the outcome of Samal’s tour is being closely tracked within political circles in Bhubaneswar.
