In an unusual turn of events, a DSP was demoted to a low rank constable after he was allegedly caught having an illicit affair with a female constable. The two were caught in a hotel room in Kanpur after applying for leave. Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Kripa Shankar Kanaujia, who was posted in Unnao’s Bighapur as Circle Officer (CO) was allegedly caught having an illicit affair with a female constable.
Following protests, an investigation was conducted in this regard. The DGP himself conducted an investigation and he was finally demoted to the post of a junior constable. The order was issued against Kripa to demote him from his current position. Notably, he was appointed as the Deputy Commander in the 26th Battalion PAC Corps at that time.
According to sources, Kripa, on the day of the incident, took leave and disappeared after switching off his phone. His wife and family members tried to reach him, but he was unreachable. Following her complaint, the SP of Unnao traced his location with the help of other surveillance.
Police rushed to his location only to find him with a female constable at a hotel room in Kanpur. Following this, the DGP suspended him and ordered a departmental inquiry.
