Protesting transfer of their principal, hundreds of students of Odisha Adarsha Vidyalaya in Tumudibandh under Baliguda block in Kandhamal district expressed disappointment and staged protest in front of the school gate on Sunday.

The transfer of the principal during exam time will only create problems for the students, the agitators said. The students said that there are not enough teachers in the school and the transfer of the principal will only put them in lurch.

According to the protesting students, there are only three teachers for English, Maths and Biology subjects. The students haven’t studied Physics and Chemistry as there are no teachers. Now, the transfer of the principal, who teaches Biology, will create problems for the students.

“We have all come here together to rally, to protest against the transfer of our principal. The reason is that they are transferring Vijay sir. He is also our Biology teacher. We have Boards in next two months. If they transfer Vijay sir now, who will teach us Biology? Moreover, there are not enough teachers in our school,” an agitating student said.

Another student said, “There are no teachers for Physics and Chemistry. We haven’t studied the subjects from day one. Now, they are transferring our Biology teacher. Who will take guarantee for our future now?”

“They (the government) are intentionally ruining our future. We have submitted innumerable applications, but no one pays heed. If our Biology sir is transferred, not a single student will come to the school,” the boy further stated.

Similarly, another student said, “Our only demand is not to transfer our principal. If his transfer order is not cancelled, we will hit the streets. This is not the right time to transfer a teacher as we have exams coming. If our demands are not met, we will take transfer from this school and not appear for the exams.”
