A cyclonic circulation is likely to form over the North Bay of Bengal around September 3, 2023. Under its influence, a low-pressure area is likely to form during the subsequent 48 hours, informed the Bhubaneswar Meteorological Centre on Friday.

As per the IMD, the monsoon trough at mean sea level continues to run along the foothills of the Himalayas. The cyclonic circulation over the Northeast Bay of Bengal and its neighbourhood persists and extends up to 4.5 km above the mean sea level tilting south-westwards with height.

The cyclonic circulation currently lying over Westcentral Bay of Bengal off the Andhra Pradesh coast at 0.9 km above mean sea level has become less marked.

Another trough line runs from the centre of cyclonic circulation over the Northeast Bay of Bengal & neighbourhood to south Coastal Andhra Pradesh at 3.1 km above mean sea level.
